Topic:   Improving the search field?

By: SimonePosted on: Feb 17 2026 at 01:40:00 PM
The search field available within “components” and “assemblies” is limited to part number and description.

Is it possible to extend it to the “suppliers’ part numbers” put in the "Suppliers" section of an item? This would make it easier to find it, based on the code assigned by the supplier too.

Thanks

Simone

Ignore the search boxes at the bottom. They're just there because that's how earlier versions of the software used to search.

The best thing to do is select "All Components" or "All Assemblies" this brings up a list of all yout items. Then look at the top of the window at the column headers. Click a column header, for example the column header for Supplier part Number" and you can add a filter. You can add multiple filters on multiple different columns to drill down to the part you're looking for.

OK, that's clear. But the search is limited to "Default Supplier" only.
If you enter a different code in the filter, even if it's present, you won't be able to find it...

Any idea?

Sorry. It just filters what's visible in the window and only the default supplier is visible.

I still miss when searching for parts it would bring up both assemblies and components in the same search.

It's been so long, I think that was doing that via searching in the "all components", but I'm not 100% on my memory of that.

And it does make sense that Assemblies don't show up in a search in the "all components"...

So maybe if there were just another button added to the menu on the left to "Search All", and then further search could be added to that new button for more fields that Simone is asking for??

It is a HUGE pain, to have to go through and search both assemblies and components for people who don't have all part numbers memorized.

Heck, even for those who do know what each is, it is still an inconvenience to need to switch from "all assemblies" to "all components" to run a bunch of searches in a row, and you end up needing to go back and forth... Ugh, lol.
