I have a component with a lead time of 20 days, raised a customer order with a Date Required of 25 days from now, but the shortages forecast shows I need to order the components the latest of 24 days from now. This would mean the component would arrive 19 days too late.
Essentially this means the shortages forecast doesnt work and so this is not really an MRP as it doesn't allow for any planning. Is this a part of the MRP that is broken or have I made a mistake somewhere?

Not sure. I need to look in to it and come back to you.
You're talking about items required on customer orders. What about items required for WorkOrders. Does the shortage report also show those with the wrong order date?

Thank you, I have replied via email but it looks like work orders and customer work orders calculate the lead times and order by dates perfectly. It's only when a component is directly on the customer order where it doesn't apply the lead times.

Yes. In some earlier versions of the software the shortage for items on Customer orders was a separate report which didn't include any LeadTime calculation. There was No 'Lead Time' column or 'Order By' column and nobody ever requested it so it just never got added.
The reports for components of WorkOrders did, of course, always reference the lead time to show an 'Order By' date.
I cant remember the exact version/revision but some time ago the reports were merged so that sales of components on customer orders would all be driving the same shortage ie in case components were being sold on customer orders and consumed by Work Orders. But the LeadTime on Customer Orders was still never included.
We're now looking at showing the Lead Time on Customer Order items which is quite easy for us to do. We just need to have a good think to be sure it doesn't cause confusion somewhere else.
We're aiming for an update by the end of this week (ie before Feb. 9 2026)
